Diagnostic Gastroscopy
and Colonoscopy
Diagnostic gastroscopy and colonoscopy are procedures used to examine the digestive tract and investigate symptoms such as abdominal pain, bleeding, changes in bowel habits, or anaemia.
These procedures allow for accurate diagnosis of conditions including ulcers, inflammation, polyps, and early cancers, and also provide the opportunity to take biopsies if needed. They are performed as day procedures under sedation, ensuring patient comfort and safety while delivering a thorough and detailed assessment.
Dr Eqbal’s advanced endoscopy training has provided extensive experience in these diagnostic techniques, including the use of magnification and enhanced imaging to detect subtle or early changes that may otherwise be overlooked.
Magnification chromoendoscopy
Magnification chromoendoscopy is an advanced endoscopic technique that uses special dyes and high-resolution imaging to highlight subtle changes in the bowel lining. This approach allows for highly detailed visualisation of surface and vascular patterns, improving the ability to distinguish between benign polyps, precancerous changes, and early cancers. It also plays an important role in cancer surveillance for patients with long-standing inflammatory bowel disease.
